PM Abbasi meets Saudi leadership, assures Pakistan's support in peace efforts

RIYADH (Web Desk) - Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi met Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz and Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman in Riyadh on Monday.

He was was accompanied by Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif, Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa and Director General of Inter-Services Intelligence Lt Gen Naveed Mukhtar.


Pakistani delegation including DG ISI, Army Chief and Foreign Minister present in the meeting.


The King was assisted by Interior Minister Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef, the minister of state for foreign affairs Dr Nizar bin Obaid Madani and Trade Minister Dr Majid bin Abdullah Al Qasabi.

In the meeting, PM Abbasi underlined the need to further strengthening the bilateral relations and cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia in diverse fields including defence, trade and investment.

The two leaders reviewed entire spectrum of bilateral relations in addition to regional and international issues. They also discussed ways and means to further enhance bilateral relations in diverse fields.

The Prime Minister lauded the efforts of the Saudi leadership in bringing peace and stability to the region and assured Pakistan’s full support in this regard.

Saudi King appreciated the efforts of Pakistan in routing the menace of terrorism and extremism from its soil.

The Prime Minister praised the efforts of the Crown Prince in launching a unified platform of Muslim countries, in form of Islamic Military Alliance to counter the perils of extremism and terrorism that are distorting the real essence of Islam.

He also appreciated the national economic transformation plan Vision 2030 of Saudi Arabia and offered Pakistan’s technical and human resource assistance in achieving it.


PM Abbasi calls on Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman in Riyadh.


The Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman while appreciating the efforts of Pakistan in fighting terrorism said that Saudi Arabia and other countries of the Coalition look forward to learn from Pakistan’s experience.

Earlier, addressing the meeting of Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition in Riyadh, Defence Minister Khurram Dastgir assured Saudi Arabia and the participating countries, of Pakistan’s support and cooperation within the mutually agreed framework.

The Minister acknowledged and appreciated the efforts of the Saudi leadership in building partnerships to counter the scourge of terrorism and extremism.

He also outlined Pakistan’s key role in the global fight against terrorism and highlighted the continued resolve of Pakistan despite huge human and financial losses.
